This beautiful couple were married in one of my favorite places… Haile Village. We met Alison and Chad when we all lived and worked in the Village.  When Alison walked across the street with a huge smile on her face, almost bouncing as she walked, I knew exactly what had happened.  She showed me the ring and asked if we were available!  We did, in fact, have the date available.  But one hitch… I would probably have a one or two week old on that date! With the help of a friend and fellow photographer, Amanda Day, we were still able to be a part of such a special day.

Alison and her girls walked from Escape Day Spa, where they got their hair and make up done, to the ceremony at the gazebo. Guests then walked to Plantation Hall for the reception. With cake smeared faces, Alison and Chad kissed and danced and loved on each other for hours. We love that we get to bump into these guys regularly! Dinner soon?!!

Megan asked me for a romantic, but urban location idea.  Hmmm… took me a minute, but then thought of the perfect location.  Downtown Alachua is a lovely location with adorable storefronts and several nooks with lots of fun photo ops.  Megan and John were married this weekend at the Baughman Center with their reception at Sweetwater Branch Inn. Those images coming soon!

The four of us had such fun together, we ended up having dinner afterward at Conastogas! We learned all about how they met, their families, their future plans.  It was such a nice time.  Megan is also our Footstone Ink Model!  Check out how stunning she was!  And just wait to you see her on her wedding day!

It Was Meant to Be!

July 11, 2011

Luiza came to see me for the first time about a year before her wedding. We had an instant connection and were both super excited about having the opportunity to work together. Then a week went by and I didn’t hear from her.  Then another week went by. I was sad because I really thought she wanted us to be her photographers! I sent an email and didn’t hear back for a little bit. Then finally it came… Luiza sent me a message that said she was definitely hopeful that she’d get to have Paul and I at the wedding, but she had to convince her dad that photography was worth the investment.

Time went by and I still waited. Poor girl kept checking in on her dad looking for a decision, but he still wasn’t convinced. Luiza later told me she didn’t want to pressure him at all because she was so grateful for all he and her mom were doing for their wedding. But when he showed her other websites of photographers who charged less, she did her best to talk with him about the differences and why we were worth it. But she never pushed him.  Again, time went by, then I got the phonecall.  Luiza’s father called me and essentially said, “My daughter is in love with you and your photography. But why are you worth it?!” We talked about experience, equipment, insurance, quality of products, etc. I was nervous, but very confident in our value. By the end of the conversation, Mr. Bretas said he knew why Luiza loved us so much and he’d be honored to have us be a part of their wedding. Whew!

Luiza and Haby were married at the Baughman Center in Gainesville, Florida. Before the ceremony, the couple decided to do a first look at the Hilton Hotel where the wedding party was getting ready. We revealed the couple to each other under the beautiful oak tree outside the hotel. I was stunned when Haby, a paratrooper in the United States Army, was brought to tears upon seeing his gorgeous bride!

Luiza was worried about pictures because it was a late ceremony.  We knew it would be dark by the time we started taking pictures outside the Baughman Center. I assured her that we had the right kind of equipment to shoot beautiful images at night. She and Haby were thrilled with how they turned out and were even glad they decided on an evening ceremony because they loved the romantic look of the pictures. It’s a different look, but it was perfect for their style.

This incredible four tier cake was designed by Olive You. It was a chocolate & red velvet cake that was TO DIE FOR! The couple actually cut the cake with Haby’s army officer’s saber. Awesome! The reception was held at Ember’s Restaurant. It was an exquisite location and the food was amazing. I highly recommend!

This incredible wedding was planned by MasterPiece Weddings. Owner, Melissa DiStefano did an amazing job perfecting every last detail throughout the entire day. Not to mention she handles an army saber quite well. LOVE HER!

At the end of the night, Mr. Bretas grabbed my hand and kissed my cheek and thanked us for being a part of this special day. I’ve truly never been so honored because I know how much Luiza hoped for us and pushed (without pushing) for us. It’s clear to me why Luiza and Haby make such a perfect match. Haby’s career in the military takes him far away for long periods of time. Luiza’s patient and delicate disposition shows support and respect and I’m sure she and Haby will make a precious life together!

The idea for Chloe and Michael’s engagement session was inspired by their save the date design. High heels meet brown boots! So we headed to Trenton, Florida for their engagement session on a friend’s farm. Chloe rocked the short dress and heels and Michael was quite comfortable in his blue jeans and work boots. The couple may seem oddly matched, but within a few minutes I saw why they worked. They tease and kid each other about their differences, but you can see that he adores her and she respects him. At first Michael wasn’t too sure about the whole “picture thing”, but by the end of the session, we had won him over! Michael admitted it “wasn’t so bad”.  Love it.

The save the date also inspired Chloe and Michael’s custom designed wedding guest book. We used the design elements on the card to carry the theme through. But we weren’t done yet! Next, we got to design their wedding invitations using custom pockets, metallic paper and all the finishing touches! I have enjoyed every minute of working with this couple and Chloe’s family. They’ve been so lovely and fun. Can’t wait to show you their wedding photos!  WOW!!

This is their save the date and invitation suite…

This is the cover and a few pages of their guest book. Haven’t seen these before? It’s a really special way to use the images from the engagement session. We incorporate the style of the wedding in the book design so it looks perfect beside the florals and decor on the table at the wedding. Plus it’s a precious keepsake after your family and friends write sweet messages on the pages.

Some of my favorites…

Haile Village is a favorite place for Alison and Chad. They live, work and play here. We luckily get to pass by them daily and catch up on wedding plans, career plans, and life plans. Not often do you get to call playing with your friends “work”. I will apologize now for the last picture… the boys just couldn’t resist.

The one word I can use to describe every aspect of this wedding… stunning! This incredibly detailed and thoughtful wedding took place at the Herlong Mansion in Micanopy, Florida. The Unforgettable Event by Dan Hathcock created the breathtaking florals and all of the divine details of the ceremony and reception. Chanity and Brandon decided that a “first look” was the best idea in order to have the flow of day they wanted. Of course, we always vote for a first look!  A few moments before the meeting was to happen, Brandon started getting nervous and tried to back out (of just the first look, I mean!) He may try to deny it, but that was totally the case! With a little encouragement, then some slightly forceful convincing, we got Brandon to head to the top balcony of the mansion. We got Brandon set outside facing the gorgeous grounds. Chanity in her nearby suite, waited for me to peek in and give her the wink. She walked out into the softly lit hallway and saw the back of her soon to be husband. With a short, quick breath, she relaxed her shoulders and waited for us to get that stunning shot. We walked her out onto the balcony, then backed up to give the sweet couple their moment. Brandon turned to see his gorgeous bride. Only a couple tears came, then the teasing and laughter ensued which is clearly how this couple shows their love to each other!

The rest of the day was the easy part! An incredibly endearing ceremony was given by officiant, Chad Reid. Chanity and Brandon drove away from the ceremony on a romantic carriage ride. They loved on each other for a little bit while the driver rode slowly around the charming streets of Micanopy. Then they returned for the party! I can’t wait to design this album! Ugh… I’m so in love with this wedding! Chanity and Brandon are hanging in the very front of our studio and in the front of Love Wedd! You guys are famous among the wedding vendor world!

Hope you’re enjoying being newlyweds! Can’t wait to see you again soon!

Super super fun couple!! Jen and Jake were an absolute joy from the beginning to end of their special day. I walked in the room when Jen was getting her hair done and she smiled, opened her arms, hugged me and introduced me as her amazing photographer to all of her bridesmaids.  She was glowing even before the finishing touches were complete. And when the dress went on… stunning!

The ceremony was picturesque under the overhang of trees and flowers in the courtyard at Sweetwater Branch. Flowers were designed by the always incredible Prange’s Florist. The yummy and beautiful cake was created by Ms. Debbie’s Sugar Art. And Jen’s gorgeous dress was from Solutions Bridal.

The hardest part of the night was having to hang on to our cameras and not join the party on the dance floor!  Fabulous wedding!

Rebecca and Brian

December 9, 2010

Rebecca and Brian were married at the Hilton Hotel in Gainesville, Florida. Despite the hesitations of a few, the couple decided to have their first look outside under the gorgeous oak tree beside the hotel. Both cried, and we loved every minute of it! The ceremony was also held outside, and praise God for the perfect weather! Rebecca is such a soft spoken and graceful woman and she made a stunning bride. At their reception, they received a blessing from her dear grandparents who had been married over 50 years. What an incredible legacy that I know Rebecca and Brian will carry on.  We were thrilled to a part of such a beautiful day.

This stunning wedding was held at Plantation Hall in the Haile Village Center in Gainesville, Florida.  All of the gorgeous details were designed by Keith Watson Entertainment.  As unbelievably beautiful as this wedding was, one of the most memorable parts was the precious hearts of the newlyweds.  Their devotion towards each other is evident in the way they talk so sweetly to each other, the way the look at each other, and the way they were literally bouncing with excitement when talking about their futures together.  When I got to talk with Bethany and Wayne about the way they met, I find out that Bethany actually moved hundreds of miles away from home to be closer to Wayne… sigh… but the interesting part is, they weren’t even dating yet! The couple says they knew they were meant to be together before they even started dating.  It was such a great pleasure to get to work with such amazing people.  Their families were gracious and welcoming and the wedding even brought tears to my eyes.  Relationships and weddings like these remind me that I absolutely have the best job ever!
