An incredible night for an incredible girl – Lauren’s Bat Mitzvah

Tuesday, April 5th, 2016

Today’s post is a really special one.  This past December we had the honor of celebrating sweet Lauren’s coming of age with her family and friends at her bat mitzvah.  Lauren is an incredibly impressive young woman and took the responsibility of preparing for her ceremony very seriously.  She was well read, well spoken and beautifully confident. Her Rabbi shared about what an amazing student she was and how seriously she took her lessons.  It was clear that Lauren was proud of her heritage, and was thoughtful and confident in the meaning and purpose behind this event.  It was an honor to share this with her and her family!

Lauren and her mother, Kim, with the help of Unforgettable Events, created a “winter wonderland” theme for the party on the evening following her ceremony.  Snowflakes and icicles and flowing white fabric from floor to ceiling created an exquisite room that Kim and Lauren were shocked to see when they first walked in.  After spending a year planning this special party, both Lauren and Kim were thrilled to see the vision come together perfectly.  Kim was so proud, and Lauren was so excited to share this night with her greatest friends. Lauren blew everyone away with her confidence and creativity while presenting her candle lighting ceremony.  For each year of her life, Lauren asked a very significant person to come light a candle with her.  She shared of her love and admiration for these people and how they’ve impacted her life.  This young lady, I will declare here and now, will be a leader and a speaker one day.  As a 12 year old young lady, she spoke with absolute assurance and poise and had the entire room clapping and laughing along with her.Gainesville-Florida-Bat-Mitzvah-Event-Photography-21

I (Kristin) feel like Lauren’s mom Kim is now more than a client, but a friend.  I was able to help her design Lauren’s invitations and day of stationery which made it possible for me to be a part of the excitement and designing and planning for the event.  She allowed us to be more than just their photographers but actually invited us as guests.  This is an amazing group of people and Paul and I grateful to know them!

Lauren’s album is being printed right now and we can’t wait to share that with her and her family.  It will be an exquisite book to show off this exquisite young lady and this beautiful night!

We’re Going to Vegas!

Tuesday, February 16th, 2016

These are definitely exciting times!  Typically, after the holidays it slows down for us in January and February so we use this time to invest in education and inspiration which motivates and prepares us for the year ahead.  There are many great things about the photography industry, but one incredible benefit is how many educational opportunities there.

The first week of March, we’ll be traveling all the way from Florida to Las Vegas, Nevada for WPPI, Wedding and Portrait Photographers International event of the year.  We’re excited and honored to be speaking at GraphiStudio’s lounge at the event.  Paul and I (Kristin) will be sharing about how we photograph and design our albums, plus the entire process we take our brides through.  We’ll be posting the exact days and times soon so be on the look out for that.  We’d love to see you!

In January, we attended Imaging USA hosted by  PPA (Professional Photographers of America) in Atlanta and were honored to speak at the convention. We left so inspired and thankful for such a strong community of friends in the photography industry.  We’ve realized the importance of staying connected and relevant in the photography industry by attending events like PPA and WPPI. It not only gives us the chance to stretch in important ways and be impacted by successful photographers around the world, but also gives us the chance to impact and encourage other photographers.

If you’ll be attending WPPI in Vegas, drop us an email ( and let us know!   We would love to connect with you.

This is a Special Weekend…

Monday, February 8th, 2016

Yes, this weekend is special for many because it’s a day for love…. Valentine’s Day is fun and exciting and I love that it gives us a push to do something sweet for our loved ones.  But this weekend we’ll be celebrating something else very special.  We’ll head to Jacksonville for the Run with Donna Breast Cancer Marathon.  Saturday morning Paul and Alyson, a member of the Footstone team, will be running the 5k.  Our little one, Win, will be running the Family Fun 1 mile Run, then Sunday, I (Kristin) will be running the half marathon.  I’ve run this race before, but more because I had heard it was an amazing atmosphere with bands and big crowds cheering… admittedly, not as much for purpose of the race.  This year, I have a new perspective.  Two of my good friends are battling breast cancer.  One is my past bride, Kelly, who has now become one of my dearest friends.  I didn’t ask permission to share my other friend’s name on the blog, but I’ll wear both names on my back as I run.  Even though there’s obviously no good age to battle cancer, these two women are way too young to have to deal with this struggle.  I pray for them both daily.  They are strong and beautiful and I am honored to know them.

Donna Deegan, a 3 time breast cancer survivor, founded the organization in 2003 and has since donated more than $4 million to research and support to women battling this disease. It’s an emotional run as you read the backs of runners shirts that say their running for a “fighter”, a “survivor” or “in loving memory of”.  Thousands will run to celebrate those living and lost to breast cancer.

My dear friend, Angela, will be coming down from Atlanta for the race. This will be her very first half marathon.  She is running in honor of her sister, who sadly did not survive cancer.  I’m so proud of her and can’t wait to spend this weekend with her and her family. I think next year we should create a Footstone team and anyone who wants to join us can.  If you’re interested, shoot us an email and we’ll keep you in the loop.Run with Donna

Noche 2015

Tuesday, December 1st, 2015

When Noche de Gala began 8 years ago, I (Paul) photographed the event held in the Tioga Town Center.  It was a great event, lots of people, amazing food and dancing.  I don’t think anyone quite realized the crater of impact that first event had – it was the launch of something big.  If you live in Gainesville you have at some point heard the story of how the Sebastian Ferrero Foundation was started (if you haven’t, click here), and the incredible courage and vision of Horst and Luisa Ferrero.  They took on the monumental challenge of helping to build a dedicated children’s hospital and now, 8 years later, we can drive along 16th and see the bright, colorful exterior of UF Shands Children’s Hospital.  We have supported the Foundation’s efforts since the beginning, but it wasn’t until just recently we realized how important this mission was.  One recurring theme of the Foundation that I heard over the years is that children are not just little adults when it comes to medical treatment and dosing, and as we sat in a hospital room with our then 3 year old curled up on Kristin’s lap, just having undergone surgery, it became incredibly important to me in that moment that all of the doctors and nurses were specifically trained to treat my child.  Lots of people have been a part of the fun side of the Foundation, supporting them through events like Noche de Gala, helping the dream of a dedicated children’s facility become a reality.  My family has now experienced the results side of the Foundation, and I am eternally thankful for what they have accomplished.

We were honored to be a part of such an incredible event working alongside Keith Watson Productions, Frankel Media, the Sebastian Ferrero Foundation and many others. May God bless these efforts and especially the families and children who need them.
