Family Portrait Month is Beginning Soon!

Thursday, September 22nd, 2016

photographers in gainesvilleIt’s that time again!  Last year, during the month of October, we raised over $1500 for the Child Advocacy Center.  We’d like to think we’ll surpass that amount this year and give this precious ministry the help and support they desperately need.

Starting in the month of October we celebrate Family Portrait Month, a wonderful opportunity for you to update your family portrait, or portraits of your children, and help to make a difference in the lives of abused and neglected children in our area.  When you schedule your session in October, we will donate your session fee to the Child Advocacy Center, located in Gainesville.  The CAC is a safe place for abused and neglected children.  Their goal is to improve the community’s response to child abuse and to minimize the trauma to children and their families.  Paul and I (Kristin) recently toured the center and it was an incredible experience.  We’ll be sharing more about this special organization throughout the coming weeks and let you know even more ways you can get involved.

We look forward to seeing how our community will come together to support this wonderful organization!  Call us this month to schedule your session for October!

We’re Obsessed with this Tiny Beauty!

This precious little girl stole our hearts a little over a year ago.  She’s not our own blood, but we love her like she is.  Sweet Carolina belongs to Stephanie, who has been part of the Footstone team for many years.  As I (Kristin) did with our two little boys, Stephanie brought Carolina to the office with her for almost a full year.  We all adopted her, or perhaps fought over her, and she officially became part of the family.

This session was to celebrate Carolina turning one year old.  Can you tell this little girl knows how to sit for a portrait session?  As Paul played in wildflowers with Carolina, Stephanie, Geoffrey and I just laughed the entire time at how she “performed” for Paul.  It’s easy to see she loves Paul and will happily sit and play while looking perfectly perfect in her field of pink.

Stephanie and Geoffrey, you are raising a beautiful little lady.  Well done for surviving the first year and thank you for letting us share it with you!

Newborn Love

Monday, February 1st, 2016

There’s nothing quite like photographing a precious newborn. Paul has a special way with little ones – he always has.  I (Kristin) just love watching him wrap up, gently position, and speak softly with a newborn baby.  It takes me back to when our two boys were just as tiny and needing the same kind of gentle nurturing.  I miss this stage! But I got my baby fix with Teresa and Jeremy’s precious baby girl, Reagan.  🙂

When a family walks in with a newborn, it changes our studio in an instant.  Everyone starts to speak a little quieter, we’re moving gently and slowly, plus we’re a slightly giggly with joy of having an hour with this precious little one. Reagan was a dream to photograph, and is already a heart snatcher!

Teresa picked out the coral and ivory bows to match Reagan’s nursery.  When I saw them, I knew I wanted to use our white rosette blanket.  Reagan took a little time to fall asleep, which is sometimes just how it goes.  We try to encourage our parents, who may get nervous at this point in the session, that often with newborns we spend more time swaddling and rocking then we do photographing.  But once we have them asleep, lots of beautiful things happen very quickly!

These were 3 of my favorite portraits of Reagan.  They now hang in the living room of Jeremy and Teresa’s home.  One is a beautiful canvas and the other two we framed with soft gold textured frames.

TeresaYork1TeresaYork3 TeresaYork2 Teresa and Jeremy, thank you for giving us the honor of capturing these sweet newborn moments of Reagan’s life.  We cherish these moments maybe most of all, because they are so fleeting and yet some of the sweetest we ever get to experience.

Some of our Fall Favorites!

Wednesday, January 20th, 2016

In celebration of an incredible 2015, today we’re sharing some of favorite fall sessions from the year.  If you know us personally, you know we love weddings, but there is always something so special and fulfilling about photographing families.  These kinds of moments are equally as special as any other kind of photography, and we are blessed to do them.

Paul’s absolute favorite part of photographing a family is to steal the children away, just he and them, and allow them to open up and become themselves.  The greatest compliment we can get is when a mom says we captured her children’s real personalities.

After any type of session, our hope is that these kinds of images will go on your wall, where it will captivate you and your family for generations to come.  Sweet moments are meant to be shared and celebrated, and we believe the best way to do that is to print them and make them real.

The images you’ll see in this post are just a few of our favorites (we have so many!), but we hope you’ll see why we love our Footstone families.

Thank you to our wonderful Footstone families, and here’s to a fantastic 2016!

When is Christmas music allowed to start playing?

Thursday, November 5th, 2015

It’s a running joke in my (Kristin’s) family of when it’s “appropriate” to start playing Christmas music.  My middle sister, Kelly, would happily put Perry Como on repeat beginning in September. While I always fought to hold off until after Thanksgiving.  No… I’m not a scrooge.  I just feel that after 30 days of holiday jingles, it can become a bit, well, let’s say… painful?

Ok, so I sound a big scrooge-ish, but I’m sincerely not!  While I’m not condoning holiday music to start yet, I am excited to see all of our families during the holiday season.  While Family Portrait Month is now over (and we raised $1575 for the Children’s Advocacy Center!), we are gearing up for the cool weather and the perfect month for family sessions.  Our hopes is each is that our families schedule their sessions in November through the first week of December so that we have plenty of time to get your portraits and gifts back before the holidays.  I may be slightly biased, but I think a portrait of a child or your family is the best gift you can give.

Call us today and we’ll set a date!  We’re excited to see everyone. And if you request Christmas music to be playing during your session, I’ll absolutely oblige.  🙂

Love these girls!  Happy holidays everyone!
