Kayla & Justin were married outdoors under a bright, ridiculously blue sky with only about 400 of their closest friends and family!  Designing this album was a photographer’s dream.  Almost all spreads have large and beautiful images that are printed edge to edge with added texture for that almost three-dimensional effect. Their cover is printed on a soft satin archival photo paper.  Kayla and Justin surprised their parents with a parent copy of their album which showcases all of the same spreads in a smaller size.

Kayla, her mom, Cindy, and Justin’s mom, Leslie, are three of the nicest women I know and working with these families was such a pleasure.  We did a bridal session with Kayla before the wedding so that it cut down on time taking those pictures on the wedding day.  During the session, I remember looking over at Leslie and Cindy watching Kayla out in the field with in her gorgeous gown and veil blowing in the wind. Both of them were misty-eyed.  At that moment, I prayed for the time I would see my son’s bride and that I would have the same love for her and her family that Kayla and Justin’s families have for each other. What joy!

After receiving her parent copy album, Cindy sent me this note…

“Oh my goodness!  I have never experienced a wedding album like the one I received.  It’s incredible.  It’s like being there with no stress attached.  I am absolutely in love with everything that you guys did and have done for us and our families.  You two have truly created a masterpiece.  The detail that I see when I look at these pictures just captures the entire day over and over.  You captured our vision and made it memorable, even filling in the gaps for us.  Thank you so much for the friendship and wonderful memories we will cherish forever!”

Thank you Kayla, Justin and both of your families for giving us this honor!

Kayla, her family, and friends did a lot themselves for this special day, but of course we would like to thank the other vendors who made this day wonderful.  Dress: Solutions Bridal Designer House   -   Bridesmaid Dresses: David’s Bridal   -   Florist: Thompson Flower Shop   -   Wedding Cake: Publix   -   DJ: Wayne’s World Entertainment

The absolute most memorable part of this wedding was walking through Jen and John’s beautiful reception and seeing each of their 12 tables with a framed picture representing every year they had been a couple.  Yes, that’s right… you did the math correctly!  This wonderful couple dated for 12 years!  The joy and excitement in both the bride and groom and all of their family and friends filled the lovely Sweetwater Branch Inn.  And tears!  Jen cried, Jon cried, Jen’s mom, Donna, cried… even I cried!  When Jen and her dad, Jim, came around the corner and walked down the winding sidewalk to the colonnade in their outdoor garden ceremony, the song “A Thousand Years” by the Piano Guys seriously brought tears to my eyes – Kristin is writing, not Paul :) .  The love between these two was just breathtaking.

John sent a special note to Jen before the ceremony which she read right before their first look in the garden.  I’ve had brides love the idea of doing a first look because we get most of the photography done before the wedding, but they worry that their grooms may not be as emotional when they come down the aisle.  This is a wedding that proves that concern wrong!  John was a mess! Jason, John’s brother, was the couple’s officiant and delivered an emotionally driven and loving ceremony as the sun was setting.  It was a remarkably beautiful day.

Jen got her stunning gown from Solutions Bridal. Prange’s Florist created her elegant floral arrangements which brought together her Vintage Romance theme perfectly.  Ms. Debbie’s Sugar Art baked her yummy cupcakes and Genius Entertainment lead the reception with an amazing playlist of the couple’s favorite songs.  It was an amazing day, Jen and John, and we’re honored to have been a part of it!  You two are such a wonderful and fun couple and we’re so happy for you and your families!

We’ve had the incredible honor of photographing Madeline and her family for several years. Her mom, Kathy, would agree that it’s hard to believe she’s now graduating and heading off to college in NYC!  Madeline is a beautiful girl inside and out and has a full personality with dreams and expectations that will take her far.  Below are the spreads of her custom designed album from her senior session, open cover shown first.  It was Madeline’s idea to make this a treasure of images plus messages from authors that inspire her.  This was such a fun and special project to create.  Of course, we had to order a sample copy of our own!  Come see it!

2014 seniors… please call if you’d like to brainstorm ideas for creating a custom session that will showcase your personality!  352.562.3066 and photo@footstone.com

Good luck Madeline!  We know you’ll rock NYC!

Megan and A.J. got married outdoors on Megan’s grandfather’s gorgeous property. This sweet couple grew up knowing each other, but it was many years before they became a couple.  Megan and A.J.’s sister, Cassie, have been best friends since they were kids and when A.J. came home from college, life started changing!  A.J. played football at Florida State (we still love you AJ!) which inspired Megan’s garter image.  This sweet-spirited bride may have been one of the most calm and gracious brides we’ve photographed.  None of the craziness that a wedding day brings flustered her.  Instead, she focused on getting ready for the moment she’d finally get to see A.J.  We drove just a couple minutes done the road to meet A.J. under a cluster of gorgeous oak trees.  There, they saw each other for the first time.  I don’t recall tears, but a lot of laughter and joy filled this precious couple!

Megan decided that she wanted to put her veil on after the first look, but before the ceremony so something would be different for when A.J. saw her walking down the aisle.  I loved this idea!  I have often heard our brides say that when the veil goes on, that’s when it hits them that they’re a bride!  It’s truly a stunning and symbolic piece that brings everything together.  With only about 400 of their closest friends and family, Megan and A.J. shared a family and God-focused ceremony. The reception was held outdoors under a grand white tent with flowers and decorations in browns and corals.  The Grande Event provided the tent, linens and tables with Fernwood Florist designing the florals for this “rustic elegance” themed wedding. A local band named Steelbridge played the couple’s favorite songs while guests joined in masses on the dance floor.  They definitely didn’t have a shy crowd!!

We wish you guys a beautiful life together and we were truly honored to be by your sides on this incredible day!

We have had the pleasure of photographing MANY newborn sessions lately!  For our mom’s that are scheduled soon, I feel I must tell you that the last three babies came a bit early!  So be READY!!  When we met the proud parents of this beautiful baby girl, Aaron and Melissa, it was for their engagement session several years ago.  What an honor to get to stay  in their lives and now photograph Lilla Rita.  This sweet newborn just slept for an hour and we could do lots of snuggly poses with her.  Her nursery has lime green, pinks, and purple with ocean scenes, so we found a lovely bowl shaped like a sea shell and incorporated the pinks and green into the session as well.

In our studio, we’ve been investing in props, blankets, and other products that really help our newborn babies stay comfy and allow us to create these adorably perfect images.  We have a space heater so that the area where we are photographing stays nice and warm since our babies are usually undressed.  We warm the blankets before we put the babies on them.  We also have a noise machine going that fills the studio, which also helps keep our little ones asleep.  It may put mom and dad to sleep too – which may be just what they need!  Our parents are always welcome to sit and watch while we photograph their baby, but if they’d rather have a cup of coffee and watch a movie in another room, that is an option!  The most fun part of the newborn session is creating sets that will compliment our parents’ homes and the nursery, of course.  Then we get to design a custom announcement with these same special elements or create a similar, but new look.  See Lilla Rita’s lovely purple and lace announcement below.

Moms!  If you are expecting, we offer the newborn session complimentary if we get to photograph your maternity session.  The best time to schedule that would be around 36 to 37 weeks.  Then newborn sessions are best within the first week after birth so we can get the sweet sleepy poses.  Call us if you’d like to talk more about these special sessions!  352.562.3066.

Thank you Aaron and Melissa for allowing us to photograph these priceless images!  Congratulations to you both and we hope we get to see baby Lilla Rita soon because we know she’s growing and changing so fast!

Artwork that Matters!

April 12, 2013

One of the most exciting rewards of our career is creating artwork that really matters.  To hang a beautiful canvas on the walls of a client, one that we know will last them forever, is absolutely one of the best parts of our job. After a portrait session, we invite our families back into the studio for their Reveal and ordering session.  Some photographers will email a proof gallery, which we once did as well.  What we’ve discovered is that our clients didn’t know what options they had which often made ordering difficult for them.  ”Well, maybe I would like this one in black and white… could I crop this one in closer… I love this image but there’s a hair in my face, I wonder if they can take that out… is 16×20 big enough for this space on my wall??!!”" Ahh!!!  What ended up happening was our clients didn’t know what they wanted to print or how big to print it and after a couple of weeks of no word from them, we called and invited them in anyway!

To make this process simple and enjoyable, we show you a special first look of your images (we try to make you cry, yes!) and walk through the ordering process with you.  Send us a picture of your wall and we can place an image to scale so you know exactly what size will fit best.  Or we can design an arrangement of images and you can see exactly what the collection will look like before you order.  It’s so much fun!

For inspiration, we have a page on our website that shows different collections and ways to showcase them on your walls.  See more details on our Collections Page.  If there’s one you see below that looks like a perfect fit for that empty wall you have, email us at photo@footstone.com!

Sarah and Aaron got married outdoors on a beautiful golf course in South Florida. Their album spreads are shown below in an “open-book” way.  Their front cover is printed on a stunning acrylic material with the image you see below on the right.  The cover is combined with a sleek black leather on the back which you see on the left. The spreads are printed on a perfectly lovely satin paper that are of course, archival and coated so their images will look this beautiful for generations to come!

Each of our album spreads are designed individually and we never use templates.  Every spread showcases it’s own moment so that each turn of the page takes you back to that special memory.  Sarah shared this special note with us…

“The day I received my album, I almost cried. It was the perfect representation of the best day of my life. Every picture captures a moment of our lives we will forever cherish; a moment that we will one day be able to share with our children! Footstone Photography did an all around fantastic job! Thank you for making our special day last forever!”

Below are some of the spreads in their stunning Panoramic Designer Album. We hope you’re enjoying sharing your amazing day with all of your loved ones, Sarah and Aaron!
